For the first time in 14 years, 2006 did not see a show being put on. Although we could not really afford to put one on in 2005, we managed to scrape through. We are a voluntary organisation that has to rely on self-funding. When we gave the sad news to the skaters they were very disappointed as they were looking forward to the show. It gives them an opportunity to perform in front of a big audience to show what we can do at Gosport Ice Rink. We have carried out fundraising events throughout this year to raise sufficient funds. The skaters and some of the previous helpers are pulling together to help with future fundraising events. It is a hard struggle but with the enthusiasm that the skaters have, we will succeed.

Our fundraising is to aim to cover the costs of putting a show on, our events have so far have included:

• Bag packing at superstores

• Street collection

• Car boot sales

• Cake making

• Hat making

• Sponsored boxing

• Other sponsored events

• Gosport Carnival

• Donations of equipment (reduced costs)
